Golaghat Engineering College (GEC) is the sixth government engineering college of Assam, established by the Government of Assam in 2018. The foundation stone was laid by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on 31 March 2012, and the college was officially inaugurated by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on 5 February 2019. Located at Bogorijeng, approximately 5 km from Golaghat town, the college is spread across 44 acres of land with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
Approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU), the college offers undergraduate B.Tech programmes in three core engineering disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. The first batch of students was admitted in August 2018. With a total intake capacity of 180 students (60 seats per branch), the college is committed to producing skilled engineers who can contribute to the industrial and societal development of the region.
