Gauhati Commerce College (GCC) was founded on 10 September 1962 by the Government of Assam, located at R.G. Barooah Road, Chandmari, Guwahati. Starting with an enrollment of only 300 students, the college has grown significantly over the decades and now caters to over 3,000 students, becoming one of the most promising institutions of Assam and Northeast India imparting business education at Higher Secondary, Degree, and Post Graduate levels.
The college has been affiliated to Gauhati University and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). In a landmark achievement, Gauhati Commerce College was granted autonomous status by UGC for a period of five years, from academic session 2026–27 to 2030–31, a recognition that reflects its sustained commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and quality education.
