Named after the first known Telugu poet Adikavi Nannaya, this dynamic state university is dedicated to providing quality higher education, fostering research and innovation, and serving the educational needs of the Godavari districts and surrounding regions of Andhra Pradesh since 2006.
Adikavi Nannaya University was established in 2006 through the Government of Andhra Pradesh Act No. 28 of 2006, with its headquarters in Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh. Named after the 11th-century poet Adikavi Nannaya, the first known author in the Telugu language who translated the Mahabharata from Sanskrit to Telugu, the university was established to fulfill the higher education needs of students in the East and West Godavari districts and surrounding areas. The university was established on 22 April 2006. The main campus is situated on the banks of the Godavari River in Rajamahendravaram, with extension campuses in Kakinada and Tadepalligudem.
