Sri Venkateswara University was established in 1954 in the holy temple town of Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, to cater to the educational needs and aspirations of the people of the Rayalaseema region. Founded by great visionaries Late Sri Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, the first Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and Late Sri Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, former President of India, the university stands on a sprawling 1000-acre campus at the foot of the Seven Hills. From a humble beginning of one college with six departments, the university has grown into the second largest university in Andhra Pradesh, having five constituent colleges accommodating 52 departments offering 88 programs.
